National Pet Day - April 11, 2024
Did you know that humans have had pets since prehistoric times, and they used to be a sign of wealth? In today’s world though, about 66% of U.S. households have a pet of some kind, according to Forbes! Since so many of us have pets, how could we not celebrate National Pet Day on April 11th?!
This is a great opportunity to celebrate the friendship you have between you and your best friend and thank them for always being there! If you’re looking for something fun to do with your pet, or wish to pamper them, check out our wonderful, puppy and kitty loving members that can serve you!
Check out what these great businesses offer here:
Bones and Bubbles Dog Spa, a newer chamber member, provides an upscale and clean experience where you can bathe your own pup, or choose from one of their numerous spa services. They offer a self wash spa, monthly memberships, spa day packages with an a la carte add on menu, full grooming services, and much more! You can also register your pal for their monthly cookie club! They will be opening their doors SOON!
Double D Dog Training, owned and operated by Dean Duet (Double D, or “Dog Dude”), offers valuable training lessons and techniques to help your dog become a well-behaved, well-mannered member of the family. They offer a puppy training program, basic and advanced obedience training, training packages, and even dog training sessions for kids! Reach out to Dean to customize the right program for you and your dog!
A Doggie 4 You is one of the largest rescues outside the city of San Antonio, with a facility ran almost completely by volunteers. They rescue and place hundreds of dogs each year in our area. They are excited to announce that Salty and Sweet, right here in Boerne, is hosting their available dogs the 2nd weekend of April! This is the same weekend as Market Days, so you can shop Market Days, then cool off with homemade milkshake at Salty and Sweet, then take a sweet furbaby home with you! How could your day get any better? A Doggie 4 You will be at Salty and Sweet from 10:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday, April 13th and Sunday, April 14th.
Hill Country Animal League is a nonprofit organization that helps prevent unwanted, neglected, and abused animals by providing affordable spay/neuter services, vaccines, preventative care, and guidance on responsible pet ownership. Their services remain low-cost thanks to The Hill Country Animal League Thrift Store (located at 115 W Bandera Rd.), Barktoberfest (an annual pet festival held in October), and donations from community members and dedicated supporters.
