Small Business Council

Statement: Creating Success through Innovative Lifelong Learning Opportunities.

Goals:  We are very proud of the partnership between our member businesses.  It is the goal of the Council to work with the Business Community to create educated consumers, educated employees and educated business owners to benefit the area’s economic vitality.

Regular meetings: 1st Thursday of each month at 8:00 a.m..  Meeting location is at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Boerne's Meeting Room .

Council Chairman: Mike Bellomy of Bellomy Consulting Group Inc.

Additional Members:  Susie Allen (past Chair) of Texas Heritage Bank, Beca Short - Jefferson Bank, Missy Guillot - Northwest Vista College, Denise Graves - The Graves Group part of the Phyllis Browning Company, Lynn Heckler - Christian Women's Job Corps of Kendall County, Holly Kallemyn - USAA, Natalie Morgan of the Boerne Public Library, DeVan Watts - Jefferson Bank, Bonnie Westley - Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce.

Strategies/Initiatives:

  • Lunchbox Lessons, Classes on the third Monday of each month - Lunch provided and included in the admission cost ($10 for members, $20 general admission).  Lynn Heckler, Chair
  • Community Job Fair - Susie Allen, Chair
  • Aubrey E. “Sandy” Sanderson / Laurie Bushong Lang Scholarships (funded through annual Golf Tournament) -  Natalie Morgan, Chair
  • John P. Ebner Scholarship (funded through annual Heart of Boerne Awards Dinner) - Natalie Morgan, Chair
  • Adult Continuing Education Program – ACE initiative, Lynn Heckler, Chair 
  • Adult Business Counseling through UTSA SBA office 
  • Leadership Boerne – is now its own Council – Cindy Arledge, Chair. Lynda Kohler and Sandy Mattick are the Coordinators for the 2010 - 2011 Class.
