Chamber Golf Tourney Tees Off for Scholarships

The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce continues a tradition with its 12th Annual Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament to be held Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Buckhorn in Comfort. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the Shotgun Start takes place at 12:30 p.m. This event supports the funding of the Aubrey E. “Sandy” Sanderson and Laurie Bushong Lang Memorial Scholarships given each year to graduating high school seniors.

While the ultimate beneficiaries of the tournament will be high school students in Kendall County who are awarded tuition assistance for their first year in college, golfers will enjoy the camaraderie of their business associates during a rare afternoon of networking and fellowship.

Sponsorships for teams of four golfers are still available for the September 24th tournament for $850. Tee box/green sponsorships ($200), one eagle ($2,750) sponsor and one par ($1,200) sponsorship levels are still available. Golfers are welcome to register as individual participants ($160), as well. For more information or to register, click here, or contact Mary Sue Hurdt at (830) 249-8000.

A foursome comprised of Terri Politi (Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce), Suzann Woodward (Suzann Woodward CPA), Lynn Pendley (JPC Financial Resources, Ltd) and Kathy Hubbard (Dr. Kathryn R. Hubbard, MD) are among the dozens of business professionals already signed up to raise money for local scholarships. They want to challenge other professional men and women to create teams of peers, customers and suppliers to join them as they seed the success of future generations of great leaders and lifelong learners through scholarship fundraising.

One of the fun games at the Tournament is the Ball Drop. Ticket purchasers buy a ticket with the number of a ball on it. At the end of the tournament, the balls will be loaded into a ball dropper and dropped. The winning ticket will have the number of the ball that lands closest to the hole. Ball Drop tickets are $10 each. The winner will receive a $1,000 Visa gift card. The winner need not be present to win. You can purchase your Ball Drop ticket at the Chamber, at any chamber event or from any Golf Committee member (Lance Lemoine, Bob Davis, Michael Trevino – Michael Trevino Agency, Tiffany Boerner – Kendall County Abstract, Matt Diana – Covenant Services, Curtis Foster – The Buckhorn, Greg Hatch and David Murrah – Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club, Rosanne Hernandez – United SA Federal Credit Union, Rusty Meador – Distinct Media.
