July Lunchbox Lesson
The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce continues its third year of Lunchbox Lessons, on July 19, 2010 at the Boerne Convention and Community Center at the corner of Adler and Plant at 11:30 a.m., with a class for those small businesses owners who don’t have an HR Department, sponsored by Focus Finder. The topic is “How to Write an Employee Manual.”
Small business owners typically do not have an HR department for their business. Where do those business men and women go for answers to critical questions that affect their workforce? We know of many business people who turn to Google. The problem with that is that Google isn’t equipped to respond to questions that are specific to individual businesses or the law that applies to them.
Local attorney, Grace Bellomy, who has litigated employment law issues for a number of years, will lead the discussion about employment manuals, who needs them and who doesn’t, as well as do’s and don’ts when creating a manual and the kinds of employment policies a small business might consider adopting to avoid problems with their employees.
